
About Us
The Subcommittee on Hispanic/Latino Affairs is under the direction of and assists the Committee on Cultural Diversity in the Church by advocating for Hispanic /Latino Catholics and working collaboratively with the standing committee and other USCCB committees. This is done by affirming the gifts and contributions of Hispanic/Latino Catholics and providing more opportunities for Hispanic/Latino Catholics to engage in the life of the Church and help shape its evangelizing mission in the context of a culturally diverse society. This mandate includes the following areas of responsibility:
The Subcommittee is directly responsible for outreach to Hispanic/Latino communities, works closely with the subcommittee on Pastoral Care of Migrants, Refugees and Travelers, and collaborates with CELAM and the Pontifical Council for Latin America at the USCCB President’s discretion and in communication with the General Secretariat.
