Using "Live Streaming" as a support tool

The new media committee for Region XI has incorporated the use of live streaming as part of their strategy in order to broadcast live their special events. Live streaming will create unity at a distance for dioceses in the region. With technology advancing by the day, we now have the advantage of using an internet connection via live video (Live Streaming), which is not the same as video conferencing. "Live Streaming" will be used to connect live meetings from across the region, especially those members of the new media committee and persons from the region. In upcoming meetings, they will discuss ideas and strategies on how they can use new media such as technology, video production, infographics, and interviews. Although"Live Streaming" does not allow person-to-person interaction like video conferencing, those who connect will be able to ask questions from the chat area. The live video will be archived as videos can be viewed at a later time if people cannot view the "Live Streaming" event. Live video can connect hundreds and thousands of people as there is no limit, as is the case with video conferencing. The committee will also be consulting and assessing the needs of each diocese and will make every effort to provide information, discussion forums, meetings, and training videos offering solutions or examples to follow. With a collaborative spirit they hope to form a great team of new media communications in the Region XI that will assist the process of the V Encuentro.
