Southeast Regional Training: Region V and XIV

The historic city of St. Augustine, Florida, hosted the Southeast Regional Training towards the V Encuentro. Convened by the Southeast Pastoral Institute (SEPI), the regional workshop brought together more than 80 leaders representing the episcopal regions V and XIV in early September. It started with a sharing of the historical memory of Hispanic ministry and the objectives and work in preparation towards the V Encuentro, guided by the Director of SEPI, Rev. Rafael Capó, and Rev. Eliécer Montañez-Grimaldos, member of the regional team. Giving thanks to God for this training, united in prayer for the fruits of the V Encuentro. ©SEPI On September 2, the training continued in a spirit of prayer, with a reflection led by members of the regional team from region V, Brittney Koepke and Deacon Juan Pagán. Representatives of the regional team were officially presented and Peter Ductram from region XIV, member of ENAVE and the regional team, presented a summary of theological reflection and principles in forming the V Encuentro, Why now? A group discussion was held and there was time to reflect on the impact of this preparation of the V Encuentro in our communities. The Encuentro as a Pastoral Tool for Evangelization Today was the topic presented to us by Martha Maria Morales, also a member of the ENAVE team and part of our regional team. In a clear manner, she presented us the challenges we face and how the V Encuentro will be a great help to overcome them. P. Rafael Capó and our Region V Chairperson, Olga Villar, concluded this training explaining in more detail the process of the V Encuentro, important dates and events. Using the methodology of questions and answers, participants had the opportunity to clear any doubts on issues such as the use of the social media, the distribution of delegates and the financial side involved in this national process of Hispanic Ministry. P. Rafael Capó ratified the deep commitment of SEPI to accompany Hispanic Ministry from the southeast at such an important moment, and noted the importance of understanding the V Encuentro as a process and not as an event. 2016 © ENAVE.
