Poverty Education and Outreach Manager  (Full Time) Department-Office-Secretariat: Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development Position Description: Under the supervision of the Director for Education and Outreach, the Poverty Education and Outreach Manager provides outreach and education on the mission and activities of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, on the Church’s teaching about poverty, and on the reality of poverty in the U.S.  The Poverty Education and Outreach Manager also contributes to the department’s general efforts to share Catholic social teaching and build the capacity of the Church to act on it.  Contributes to the Bishops’ strategic plan for the Conference.  Demonstrates willingness and ability to understand, respect and contribute to the USCCB mission and to fulfill job duties in accordance with its Catholic identity Requirements:Educational Level:  Bachelor’s Degree required;  MA preferred Major Field/Specialty:  Theology, social work, or related field Foreign Language Requirement: (if any)Spanish preferredOther Specialized Training: (i.e. word processing, personal computer, knowledge of Catholic Church, etc.)

  • Requires extensive knowledge of and commitment to the Catholic Church and its social teachings.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and relational abilities required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, e-mail and other communication tools.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

Type and Nature of Professional Experience

:

  • Experience in national, diocesan or parish social ministry.

  • Experience with empowerment of low-income people and communities.

  • Experience as an educator or trainer.

  • Group process and facilitation skills.

  • Strong speaking, writing and editing skills, including demonstrated experience producing clear and concise materials.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures.

  • Experience working collaboratively with peers, colleagues and others to achieve mission goals and objectives.

Number of  Years Required
