Dear friends in ministry,
Best wishes to everyone in 2016!
Exactly in one year we will begin implementing the V Encuentro Nacional Hispano de Pastoral (V Encuentro) in thousands of parishes, ecclesial movements and other Catholic organizations across the country.
We have twelve months to prepare the soil, build teams, and develop the pastoral tools we need to carry out this missionary work to which the Church calls us through the V Encuentro. God has truly gifted us with the opportunity to prepare during the Jubilee Year of Mercy. In particular, this grace prepares us to be "Missionary Disciples: Witnesses of God's Love."
Thankfully, we count with great leaders and with the generous support of individuals and organizations who see the V Encuentro as a great blessing for the Church in the United States. In particular, we want to thank Catholic Extension Society for the support they will provide to mission dioceses this year in the formation of their diocesan and parish teams for the V Encuentro (see details below). We also thank the Sisters of Mercy for their generous contribution of $25,000. Their support in the formation of Hispanic/Latino leaders rooted in a spirituality of missionary discipleship is of great inspiration to us.
In this newsletter we want to emphasize the importance of persons overseeing diocesan Hispanic/Latino ministry. You are key people in the development and formation of V Encuentro diocesan teams during the first months of this year. In mid January, your bishops will receive information on the preparations for the V Encuentro. You will receive information via our newsletter and our project management system, as well as through your Episcopal Regional Coordinators. In addition, the National Team of Accompaniment of the V Encuentro (ENAVE) will participate in your annual NCADDHM Conference on July 18-20 in St. Loius, MO. For more information click here.
Let us continue on our way to the V Encuentro aware that God's mercy gives us new life and is inviting us to create a culture of encounter.
