New Resources for Parish Encuentros Documents will assist parishes to better respond to the Hispanic/Latino presence.

Washington, DC:

The National Team of Accompaniment (ENAVE) for the Fifth National Encuentro of Hispanic/Latino Ministry (V Encuentro) has published new resources for nearly 5,000 Catholic parishes in the United States to assist them in planning their Parish Encuentro. Resources are now available via the V Encuentro website. On February 26-28, 2017 ENAVE and Episcopal Regional Chairs (ERAVE) from the 14 regions in the United States gathered to review and approve resources for planning Parish Encuentros. Archbishop José H. Gómez, Bishop Gerald R. Barnes, and Bishop Nelson J. Pérez participated in the meeting. “This was a very productive time for national and regional leaders accompanying the V Encuentro Process. Important decisions were made about resources for the Parish and Diocesan Encuentros. The basic framework for the National Event to be held September 20-23, 2018 in Grapevine, TX was also approved. Regional Encuentros dates have been confirmed for 13 of the 14 Regions for the spring of 2018

.

We are grateful for the amazing work, leadership, and commitment of the National, Regional, Diocesan Teams! The V Encuentro is now a reality and is bearing much fruit across the nation with over one million and a half Catholics directly engaged in this process,” said Alejandro Aguilera-Titus, National Coordinator for the V Encuentro, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. The Parish Encuentros are the second stage following the five-sessions of reflection and missionary action carried out by Catholics at the local level. Parishes will then develop a Working Document to help them to better respond to the Hispanic/Latino presence, and to strengthen the ways in which Hispanics/Latinos respond as missionary disciples serving the entire Church in the United States. Parishes will select delegates to represent them at their Diocesan Encuentro with the possibility of being selected to represent their diocese at the Regional Encuentro and their region at the National Event in the fall of 2018. Over 160 dioceses in the United States are participating in the V Encuentro process. ENAVE and ERAVE are proud to offer the following documents:

Documents are now available in English. All Spanish versions will be available by Monday, March 13, 2017. ENAVE is the National Team of Accompaniment of the V Encuentro and is a representative group of national Catholic organizations committed to advancing the call to the V National Encuentro of Hispano/Latino Ministry. The V Encuentro process is a priority activity of the USCCB’s Strategic Plan for 2017-2020.
