Meet Wanda Vasquez

Wanda F. Vasquez was born in Vieques, Puerto Rico and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She has been serving the Archdiocese of New York since 2001 in the Office of Communications as the Assistant Director for Hispanic Communications then as Assistant Director of Communications. During her time in the Office of Communications Wanda contributed to various projects such as the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, Christ Our Hope - Visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States, and the Apostolic Journey to the Republic of Cuba.
In 2013, Wanda was appointed Director of the Office of Hispanic Ministry in the Archdiocese of New York, which includes serving as the Ex-officio member of the newly implemented Archdiocesan Pastoral Advisory Council for Hispanic Ministry which comprises of clergy and lay leaders who serve as agents for the community with new pastoral strategies in promoting the full participation and integration of Hispanics in the life of the church.
Wanda also serves as the Director of the Felix Varela Pastoral Institute for Adult Faith Formation, chair of the team of Presidents of Hispanic Committees which includes 17 different regions of Latin America, and as Secretary for the Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese of New York.
Wanda is married and resides in Manhattan and Port Jervis, New York. She is a graduate of University of Saint Leo in Tampa, Florida, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She holds a master’s in justice administration and a law degree from New York University.
In the Process of the V Encuentro, Wanda serves as the chairperson for Region II (Albany, Brooklyn, Buffalo, New York, Ogdensburg, Rockville Centre, Rochester, and Syracuse).
