Meet Mayra Carrillo

Mayra Carrillo was born in East Los Angeles and raised in Boyle Heights California. She has a beautiful four-year-old daughter who she is raising by herself. Mayra has fifteen years of Radio Communications experience and currently attends East Los Angeles College where she is majoring in psychology.  She also has acquired a certification in Chemical Dependency from Homeboy Industries.

Mayra is a good problem solver and has an upbeat high spirit.  Her friendly and social attitude is very positive and outgoing.  Besides being creative in photography, she loves music, helping others, and serving God through community work.

Mayra states -

Hi, my name is Mayra Carrillo. For the V Encuentro it is my hope that we as Catholics come together to serve the ones in need, to reach out  the dangerous streets where drugs, alcohol, gangs and easy money are taking over youth and families. We are in desperate need of building programs in troubled neighborhoods; programs in which the Catholic Church, city council, law enforcement and community unite to form effective prevention teams and programs. I believe that V Encuentro is not only the opportunity to start a conversation but a platform to tackle the dangers that society is facing these days. I am excited to be collaborating in using social media for the V Encuentro process.  I am committed to use my experiences and  personality to support Region XI social media committees and create strategies to facilitate the process.
