He is a retired Civil Engineer from the U.S. Forest Service and retired Commander from the U.S. Naval Construction Force (Seabees), and has served as Director for Hispanic Ministries and Chancellor for the Diocese of Tyler. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, Master Degree in Theological Studies, and Master Certificate in Pastoral Ministry from the University of Dallas. Deacon Natera is active throughout the Diocese of Tyler, providing diaconal, catechetical and sacramental training, specializing in liturgy, and currently devotes his time to the study of Latin. He has recently served as adjunct professor with the University of Dallas. Deacon Natera and his wife Maria Guadalupe, are blessed with six children and "currently" have 16 grandchildren. As part of the Liturgy team for the Region 10, he has coordinated prayer services and liturgies during Region X trainings.

"As Catholic Christians, we are nourished through the Sacraments, especially when we receive Him through the Eucharist. We are the ones who need Him, and when we pray and receive and joyfully accept what He has given us, He hears us and He responds," Natera said.

Natera's hope for the process leading up to the V Encuentro is that we move ahead as graciously as we can.

"There will be obstacles along the way, but if our efforts are reinforced by the touch of the loving hand of God, our efforts will be fruitful," Natera said. "We, as the Body of Christ will have the satisfaction that we are living out the mission of Christ. We will have responded to the great Event of Evangelization, Jesus Christ Himself."
