On February 12-14, 2015 ENAHVE offered training for episcopal regional chairs on the V Encuentro Process in preparations for the V National Encuentro Nacional Hispano/Latino de Pastoral. The training took place at Catholic Relief Services’(CRS) headquarters in Baltimore, MD thanks to the generosity of CRS who provided meeting space and a $3,800 donation to offset some of the costs of the training. USCCB Subcommittee on Hispanic/Latino Affairs also financially supported the event. All fourteen regions were represented and members of ENAHVE were also present to offer support and accompaniment. The training of the episcopal regional chairs was a unique opportunity to learn about the nature, vision, and possibilities of the V Encuentro process. Participants in this training learned important information in a spirit of prayer and reflection. Participants were introduced to the process through an introduction and 3 presentations: “What Is the V Encuentro Process?” “The Encuentro as a Pastoral Model for Evangelization Today” and “Theological Principles Sustaining the V Encuentro Process.” Participants then engaged in Lectio Divina and a Theological Reflection- Called and Sent to Encuentro: A Pastoral Theological Vision for the V Encuentro Process. The last day focused on logistics where participants were asked to create regional teams and identify a New Media Encuentro Representative, discussed the practical aspects of Finances and Development, and became familiar with the V Encuentro website. Presentations were offered by Alejandro Aguilera-Titus- USCCB, Subcommittee on Hispanic/Latino Affairs, José López- Diocese of Stockton, Estela Villagrán-Manancero- President of NACDDHM, Dr. Hosffman Ospino- Boston College, Sr. Anne Marie Reha, SSND- Diocese of New Ulm, MN, Rev. Hector Madrigal- St. Joseph’s- Amarillo, TX. and Dr. Patricia Jiménez-USHispanicMinistry.com. Pedro Rubalcava from Oregon Catholic Press provided liturgical Music accompaniment. Those who participated in the training left feeling excited and ready to take on the challenge of preparing their regions for the V Encuentro de Pastoral Hispana/Latina. 2015 © ENAHVE.
