Diocese of Tucson Prepares Diocesan Team

On June 3 and 4, the Diocese of Tucson V Encuentro Team met at the Pastoral Center for the training of diocesan teams. The training brought together diocesan leaders and representatives of the Ministerial Formation Levels I and Level II as well as representatives of the Charismatic Renewal and Cursillo de Cristiandad.
The orientation focused on providing the history of previous Encuentros and the main objective of the V Encuentro, namely, to discern the pastoral response of the church to the Hispanic/Latino presence in this country. During the training, participants had the opportunity to discuss the process and reflect on their own roles. Participants included, Monsignor Raul Trevizo, Vicar General of Hispanic Affairs, youth group leaders, and committed lay people actively involved in parish and diocesan ministry.
Through team dialogue, it was clear that most of the participants share the hope and enthusiasm of the V Encuentro and take this process as a challenge as well as a great blessing for the Hispanic/Latino community and for the whole Church in the United States. One of the questions for reflection was: What does it mean to be Hispanic Catholics in the United Sates in the twenty first-century?
