Sandra López, diocesan coordinator for Hispanic Ministry Initiatives and V Encuentro representative for Region III, organized the formation and training in the Diocese of Trenton on May 16, 2016 in the chancery to prepare the diocese for the V Encuentro.
Fr. René Pulgarín, diocesan liaison for the Hispanic and Portuguese communities and pastor of St. Joseph’s Parish, Keyport, NJ, spoke about the important opportunity that the V Encuentro presents for the local and national Church. He also shared the process and what it will look like in the Diocese of Trenton.

Laura Rivas, diocesan associate director for Evangelization and Catechesis, offered a brief history of the past four Encuentros and noted the many gifts that surfaced from them for the Catholic Church in the United States.
A dynamic activity brought the team closer to one another and to the true meaning of the V Encuentro. Led by Fr. René, participants were asked to take a piece of bread from a larger loaf. The bread was to represent what the individual was bringing and offering to the V Encuentro process. Each person then named their gifts and gave their bread to someone else, connecting them in a beautiful way.
The V Encuentro team for the Diocese of Trenton left invigorated and anxious to continue to deepen this process for the diocesan family.
