On Saturday, February 25, the Diocese of Raleigh offered the first training for the use of the V Encuentro Guide and the Journal of Mission and Consultation in the Deaneries of Newton Grove, New Bern and Cape Fear. During the training they deepened their understanding of the five themes within the Parish Guide and the Journal of Mission and Consultation. The documents were inspired by Pope Francis' Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium (No. 24), where we are invited to "take the first step", "get involved", "accompany", "bear fruit" and "celebrate" within and outside the Church. Participating parishes included St. Mark (Deanery of Cape FEar), Infant of Prague and St. Paul (Deanery of New Bern); St. Mary of the Angels, St. Ann, Mary Queen of the Americas, Immaculate Conception, Mission St. Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe-which was the host parish- (Deanery of Newton Grove), with more than 60 leaders appointed by their parish pastor. Their task is to reflect together on these materials with their communities, gather the answers generated by the consultation and participate in the August 12th inter-parish Encuentro. The Hispanic Catholic community of the Diocese of Raleigh will embark on the path towards the V National Encuentro through the development of a 2017 Working Plan titled "Missionary Disciples in the Name of Jesus." The process begins in parishes providing Hispanic ministry, continues in the eight deaneries through inter-parochial meetings in three pastoral regions, and culminates with the Diocesan Encuentro and a Celebration of Hispanic Heritage on October 14 in the New Cathedral of Holy Name of Jesus. 2016 © All Rights Reservaded.
